DIY Kids Kitchen Set
With our little one growing up so fast and Christmas coming soon, we wanted to create a gift that would allow him to explore and engage in role play and explore one of our family passions--cooking!
Taking the lead of some great Pinterest photos, we decided to repurpose an old donated entertainment set into a stylish play kitchen that would match with our real kitchen cupboards and appliances so that we could put it in our kitchen without being an eye-sore. Most play kitchens are made of brightly colored plastic or are stereotypically designed for little girls, so we figured that this would be a more gender neutral and classy way for Caden to learn the art of cooking and food preparation.
We started with this entertainment set and used a jigsaw to cut out a circle that we dropped in a stainless steel bowl into to serve as a his sink.
We then sanded and painted the wood white to match our kitchen cupboards and bought some wood to create the doors of the "refrigerator/freezer"and re-hinged one of the lower cupboards so the hing would open on the bottom like an oven.
Finally, we finished the set with some accessories. The stove knobs were from amazon.com, the faucet was from Home Depot, and the show curtain was from Target.
