Crate Wall Bookshelf

When we moved into our new home, we wanted a fun and creative way to store our books, photos, and decorations-something that was space-efficient, yet stylish.  We came up with this crate wall design. The weathered crates were purchased from Joann Craft store with a handy 20% off coupon.  We stacked them all against the wall and held them together with binder clips.  Then, we took a photo so remember how we arranged them.

Next, we drilled them into the wall directly into studs or using dry wall anchors that each support 50 lbs. if a stud was not available in the right location.  Each crate is anchored to the wall with 3 screws.  Finally, we filled up the shelves with books.  We made sure that heavy books were placed on crates that had crates directly below so that there is at least double support for the heavier books.
